Dr. Karola Krell Zbinden
Dr. Karola Krell Zbinden studied law at the University of Regensburg, Germany, and wrote a thesis on “The responsibility of food businesses in the food chain”. Karola Krell immigrated in 2002 to Switzerland, where she worked as Legal Counsel in the Food Safety Department at the WHO and as assistant at the University of Geneva for the interdisciplinary master course in Life Science law. She was admitted to the Swiss bar in 2007.
Karola consults businesses mainly in food and commodities law, competition law and liability law.
Her activity areas are in particular: assessment of the marketability of food, animal feeds, food supplements, drugs and medicinal devices as well as of commodities, cosmetics and chemicals; assessment and optimization of packaging declarations; authorization, notification and registration procedures at Swiss authorities; legal counseling in administrative and criminal proceedings; assessment of targeting methods (in particular "Health Claims") and product advertising; crisis management; product liability.
